Description

The Paragon is a pair of circa 1840-50 semi-detached houses built of grey brick, set at right angles to Wilton Road, facing a similar pair, Nos. 3 and 4 (The Paragon). They have low-pitched slate roofs with deep, bracketed, flat eaves. The front elevation features a recessed dividing band running down the centre. Each house has two windows on the first floor, with intact glazing bars to the recessed sash windows, and one window each on the ground floor, which are taller. All windows have rendered flat arches and keystones. Each house has a recessed six-panel door with a marginal, rectangular fanlight above, panelled reveals, reeded doorheads, flanking reeded quarter columns, a frieze, and a shallow leaded cornice. No. 2 has a recessed extension to the side, built in a matching style with two windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor. Numbers 1 to 4 (The Paragon) form a group.
