Description

The Old School House is a house built in the second half of the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The front is constructed of cream brick in Flemish bond with ashlar dressings, while the rest is made of red brick in an irregular Flemish bond and rendered at the rear. It has a Welsh slate roof and a trapezoidal shape, being narrower at the back. The building is two storeys high with an attic, featuring two bays at the front and one bay at the rear.

The road-facing side has a plinth and quoins. The entrance is located to the right of the centre and features an ashlar doorcase with pilasters that have plinths and capitals supporting a cornice. The door consists of four raised and fielded panels with an overlight above it, and there is a small inserted window to the right. To the left and on the first floor, there are late 20th-century aluminium-framed casements that imitate four-pane sashes, all equipped with projecting sills and keyed wedge lintels. A cornice runs below the coped parapet. The roof is hipped on the right and includes a central flat-roofed dormer, as well as two end stacks on the left, one for each roof pitch, and crested ridge tiles. The rear features a keyed wedge lintel above a first-floor window and a 20th-century dormer. The interior has not been inspected.
