Description
The Church of St Paul, located on Fisherton Street, was built between 1851 and 1853 by architect T H Wyatt. The church is constructed from flint rubble with stone dressings and features an asymmetrically placed southwest tower designed in a style reminiscent of around 1300, complete with slim corner buttresses and a tiled pyramid roof. The main body of the church includes two-light and single-light cusped headed pointed windows. The north aisle was added in 1876, and the church has a low chancel. There are timber gabled porches at the southwest and west ends. Inside, the church has low piers that are alternately round and octagonal, with some of the piers and arches originating from the former Church of St Clement in Fisherton Anger. The church also features a plain 13th-century circular font from the same former church. St Paul's Home is part of a group with St Paul's Church.
