Description
Evergreen Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins dating from the early to mid 18th century. It was extended and altered in the early 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick with chequered brick on the original part and features a stone slate roof with end stacks. It has two storeys and an attic, presenting a formal three-window front that includes two hipped dormers and 16-pane sash windows, with paired windows on each side and a single window above the door in a 20th-century hipped porch. The brickwork to the left of the door is chequered, and the left windows have been enlarged to match the others. There is a rubble plinth at the left end, and the rear wing was used as a dairy and cheese room. The east end stack is also notable. Inside, there is an early 19th-century plain staircase leading from the first floor, which has been renewed below. The first-floor north room features a chamfered and scroll-stopped centre beam, which is of late 17th century or early 18th century design.
