Description

The carthouse at Alton Priors Farm is a 17th-century structure located on the village green. It is timber framed and features a thatched roof. The building consists of eight bays, with five of them being open fronted and three that were enclosed later using corrugated iron. The roof has been extended down at the rear. At the front, there are jowelled posts set on stone bases, along with curved brackets supporting the plate and long curved brackets for the ties. The principal rafters and collars are supported by curved struts, and the framing is numbered.
