Description

A row of three cottages, likely with origins in the 16th century, was significantly altered in the 18th and 19th centuries. Numbers 5 and 6 are built of rubble stone with a Bridgwater tile roof, featuring a ridge stack and a south-east corner stack. The roof is half-hipped to the south. These cottages are 1 1/2 storeys high. Number 5 has a casement pair above a blocked basement, alongside a 2-light mullion window and a door to the right. Number 6 features a triple casement to the ground floor, another breaking the eaves above, and a door to the right. Timber framing is visible in the north end wall of number 5, and a heavy spine beam is present within. Number 7 has a rubble stone plinth, a north end chimney bay and back wall, and a predominantly 19th-century red brick front wall, replacing what was once timber framing. It is double-fronted, with two casement pairs on each floor, and a central door. A lean-to on the north wall displays some exposed timber framing. The interior of number 7 follows a two-room plan, featuring heavy chamfered centre beams. The roof incorporates windbracing.
