Description
No 14 Market Place is an early 19th-century building that stands three storeys tall. It is constructed of red brick and features a projecting plinth. There are string courses at both the first and second floor levels, along with a moulded cornice and a brick parapet topped with stone coping. The roof is covered with slate.
The upper floors have two windows that are four panes wide, which flank a central window that is three panes wide. On the ground floor, there is a large three-centred arched window with a red rubber head, and modern lights are installed to the left. The central entrance features a six-panel door with a plain arched fanlight above it, and to the right, there is one window without glazing bars.
This building is part of a group of listed buildings that includes others on the South West Side, the South East Side, the Market Hall, the Market Cross, and the Fountain. Additionally, all the listed buildings on the South West Side form a group with Nos 1 to 18 Northgate Street.
