Description
No 1 Silver Street is a building located on a significant corner site at the north end of the Town Bridge, where Market Street meets Silver Street. This structure is the first in a small row of houses dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed of coursed rubble with freestone dressings. The building features two original gables, one facing the street and the other facing the river, with stone-tiled roofs that have ridges meeting at right angles from the gables. Each storey has one window, with sash windows present, although the glazing bars are missing on the first floor. The shop front includes a plain fascia supported by three pilasters with sunken panels, and there is a door located to the right. Nos 1 to 3 Silver Street together form a group.
