Description

7 The Shambles is a late medieval building that stands two storeys high and features a high-pitched gable with modern pantile roofs. The structure is timber-framed with close studs and plaster infilling. The bargeboards are intricately carved with "Tudor" cresting. On the gable, there is a single-light wood-framed casement, while the first floor has a two-light wood-framed casement with a carved wooden string at the sill level. The ground floor has a modern shop front. This building is part of a group that includes the King's Arms Hotel, Nos 2, 5, and 6 Coppice Hill, Nos 27 to 29 Silver Street, and No 2 Kingston Road.
