Description
Newhouse Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse that was altered in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble stone and features a stone slate roof with coped verges and gable end stone stacks. The building is designed in an L-shape and has two stories with five windows. The central entrance has a ribbed door topped by an ovolo-moulded transom light and a hoodmould. On either side of the door, there are 3-light 19th-century ovolo-mullioned casements, each with a hoodmould.
The first floor contains five 2-light ovolo-mullioned casements with hoodmoulds, arranged as a pair to the left and right beneath gables that have blind ovolo-moulded lights. The left gable features a partly illegible 18th-century datestone, which has likely been reset. The farmhouse has coped verges with saddlestones and two-span rear wings that include 2-light and 3-light ovolo-mullioned casements, with a former dairy located on the east side. This farmhouse is a notable example of an estate farmhouse in the parish.
