Description

Heale Park Cottage is a house dating from the 16th and 18th centuries. It features a distinctive flint and chalkstone chequerwork design, with brick quoins and dressings, topped by a thatched roof. The cottage is a single storey with an attic, consisting of two bays, and was extended to the north around 1900 with an additional single bay, along with a later two-bay rear extension.

The north bay has a 20th-century door with a thatched propped canopy and timber windows with panes. There are two flush doors at the front and one leading to the rear extension. On the south gable, there is a brick extension at the first floor supported by brick piers. The roof is hipped at the rear and half hipped on the south side.

Inside, the cottage features a central jointed cruck truss with a tie-beam and partly trenched purlins. The upper section of the cruck is scarfed and pegged, crossing at the apex, and the roof shows signs of being smoke blackened. The left bay contains a spine beam with ogee and bar stops.
