Description
57 and 58 New Park Street are a pair of buildings dating from the 18th century. Originally they included number 56, which has since been demolished. The buildings are three storeys high, with a second floor within a mansard roof. They are constructed of painted brick on a stone plinth, with a stone sill course. The roof is slate, with stone tiles to the rear, and features three dormers with sash windows, glazing bars, and slate cheeks.
The front has four windows, and a shallow, hipped slate-roofed canted bay window on the first floor to the right. Sash windows retain their original glazing bars on number 57. The ground floor of number 57 features a plate glass window within the original surround, and a glazed door; an arched passage entry provides access and contains a door with four fielded panels. Number 58 has a shop front dating to the mid-19th century, with a two-light window and glazed door, framed by pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. A wrought iron cresting with flower design tops the shop front.
