Description
The forecourt wall of Brownstone House, located at 1042 New Park Street, is a Grade I listed structure. It features a surrounding brick wall topped with moulded stone coping. The wall sweeps up to square rusticated stone angle piers that are adorned with large stone ball finials. The central gate piers are also square and large, showcasing a panelled treatment. These piers connect to the brick wall with supporting stone side scrolls and moulded caps, which include an egg and tongue bed mould and large carved stone cone finials. The gate stops are designed with inverted scroll heads. The iron gates consist of square bars and feature scrolls across the rails and side panels. Additionally, there is a rectangular front scroll overthrow with scroll cresting and a central lamp. Brownstone House, along with No 48 and the Castle Hotel, forms an important group at the southern end of New Park Street.
