Description
No 48 on New Park Street is a late 18th-century former stable block of Brownstone House, now functioning as a single property. It is two storeys tall and constructed of red brick. The central and right sections feature a mansard roof covered with pantiles, while the left section has a hipped roof made of old tiles. The stable block includes two arched entrances with chamfered stone surrounds and an oval loft window above. Originally, the right section had an early 19th-century canted bay window on the first floor, along with a stable door, a window, and a four-panel door on the ground floor. This elevation has been altered in an early 19th-century style, now showcasing two sash windows on the first floor and a Regency-style shop front on the ground floor. No 48, Brownstone House, and the Castle Hotel together create an important group at the southern end of New Park Street.
