Description

This is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with later alterations in the early 18th century. It is timber-framed with brick noggings and has a thatched roof. Originally a single-storey building with an attic, it was raised to two storeys and an attic during the later 17th or early 18th century, now comprising two bays with a stack in a further part bay on the right. The timber framing is three panels high and features wavy reverse corner braces. The wall plate is chamfered out, and an added tier also has wavy reverse braces. The original door remains in its original position at the lower end of the main heated bay and is half-glazed. Timber casement windows are present. The left gable was rebuilt in the 20th century with an external stack, and the right gable has been refaced in brick. Inside, there are central spine beams with run-out stops. A stair is located at the rear of the left bay. The eaves are only partially raised at the rear and there is a 20th-century lean-to extension.
