Description
Stop Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from rubble stone and features a hipped thatched roof and brick stacks, forming an L-plan layout. The building is two stories high and has five windows, which are fitted with casements.
The central entrance consists of a four-panelled door set beneath a porch supported by posts. To the left of the door is a blocked doorway, a square-headed single casement, and to the right, there is a 20th-century lean-to extension. On the first floor, there is a single blocked segmental-headed casement and a two-light casement from the 17th century, along with three two-light casements to the right.
The left side of the farmhouse features a three-light ovolo-moulded mullioned casement on both the ground and first floors, with a coped verge to the left. At the rear, there is a single-storey thatched extension from the 18th century, which includes casements and a 20th-century single-storey extension.
Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered beams with stepped stops, an open fireplace with a chamfered timber lintel resting on stone jambs, and both planked and four-panelled doors.
