Description
Nos 33 and 34 are a pair of estate cottages built around 1860 for the Marquess of Westminster. They feature a limestone ashlar front, dressed limestone on the rear and returns, and a concrete tiled roof, which was formerly thatched, with brick stacks. The cottages are two-storey and have four windows, all with casements. The left side has a planked door and a three-light mullioned casement with a hoodmould, while the right side has a planked door with two mullioned casements and hoodmoulds. On the first floor, there are four three-light mullioned casements, all of which are cast-iron latticed. The left and right returns each have two single-light cast-iron casements with hoodmoulds. The rear features single-storey extensions with tiled hipped roofs and mullioned casements. The interior has not been inspected. This building is a good example of a mid-19th century estate cottage on the Fonthill Abbey Estate.
