Description
The White Hart Inn is a 17th-century inn, possibly built on an earlier foundation, with a south range added around 1830-1840. It is constructed of rubble stone, squared and coursed in the 19th-century section, and features stone tiled roofs. The original range, which faces east, is one and a half storeys high and includes a north end stack and a rear chimney gable on the right side. The left section has an east gable and a one-window range featuring three-light ovolo-moulded recessed mullion windows with hoodmoulds. There is a rear lean-to and a later slate-roofed extension on the north end.
The right side was refronted in the 19th century and has a projecting ashlar coped gabled porch with relief carving in the gable. To the right of the porch, there is a two-light window in a chamfered flush surround. The rear of the building has a narrow gable on the right with an altered one-window range, and a surviving hoodmould above, along with a chimney gable on the left. The south end wall features a blocked attic single light and three-light ovolo-moulded windows with hoodmoulds and relieving arches on the ground and first floors.
An early 19th-century wing is two storeys high, with an east end stack and a bargeboarded gable. It has a three-window range of two-light flush chamfered mullion windows and a central door in a gabled stone porch. Inside, there is a stone Tudor-arched fireplace at the north end, which has a 20th-century carved date of 1553, along with a chamfered and stopped beam.
