Description

Farmhouse, dating from the 17th and early 18th centuries, with alterations in the 20th century. The farmhouse is constructed of rubble stone with dressed limestone detailing, featuring a tiled roof with brick stacks and coped verges. The original 17th-century range is single-storey with an attic, and has three windows. It includes a planked door set within a chamfered stone case and features recessed chamfered mullioned casement windows: a two-light window to the right and a three-light window to the right, alongside two-light and three-light 20th-century mullioned casements to the left. Three gabled dormers, each with a three-light casement window, light the attic space. The right return side shows a three-light and a single chamfered casement window. An early 18th-century range is attached to the left, with recessed chamfered mullioned casements – two-light and three-light – to both ground and first floors. The left return of this range has a planked door and a blocked two-light mullioned casement; the rear elevation has two-light mullioned casements. The rear of the main range includes gabled dormers with 20th-century mullioned casements, and a pair of small pointed lights to the first floor, alongside a 20th-century two-storey extension to the rear right. The interior was not accessible during a survey in January 1986; it is reported to contain chamfered beams, open fireplaces with chamfered lintels and stone jambs, and a through passage to the rear of the stack. The farmhouse may incorporate late Medieval features.
