Description

198 Bath Road is an 18th-century house that was altered in the 19th century. It is two storeys high and has an ashlar facade. The roof is stone-tiled, with parapets to the gable ends, a chimney to the left, and a chimney with a ball finial to the right. A moulded cornice runs along the front, below a plain parapet. The facade is flanked by pilasters that rise through the parapet to moulded finials. A string course runs horizontally across the front. There are four windows on the first floor, with sash windows in moulded reveals and no glazing bars. The ground floor has three Victorian windows with elliptical heads. These windows are three-lights each, with stone mullions and transoms, and moulded architrave surrounds. The central window is framed by a segmental arch with pilasters and a keystone. A three-storey, one-window extension to the left features a recessed doorway under a round-headed arch. 198 Bath Road forms a group with Christ Church, Mount Pleasant.
