Description
The Crown Inn is an inn dating from the early 18th century. It features painted brickwork and a slate roof, standing two storeys tall with a basement and attics, and consists of four bays. The central two bays are recessed behind single bay wings. There is a pedimented doorcase in the left recessed bay, which is accessed by five steps. The windows are timber with multiple panes. The end bays are set forward, with the left bay featuring a canted bay window on the ground floor, while the right wing has two blank arches. The roofs are hipped, with a central dormer and a dormer on each wing, as well as two additional dormers on the south return elevation. The windows are twelve-paned sashes, and there is a plat band and moulded eaves. The building also displays a Sun Insurance Fire mark No 109250. The interior has not been seen but may be of interest.
