Description

Fern Cottage is a house from the 18th century that was altered in the 19th century. It features diaper brickwork and a thatched roof. The building is two storeys high and has four bays. The central entrance has a six-fielded and panelled door set in a reeded doorcase, topped with a bracketed flat canopy. On either side of the door are deep-set tripartite plate glass sashes. A former lean-to on the left side was raised to two storeys in the later 19th century, creating the fourth bay, and it has an identical door and canopy. The original three bays have gable stacks, and the roof is hipped with a lean-to at the rear.
