Description

Red Oak Cottage is a Grade II listed building located on the Bowood estate. This early 19th-century cottage is constructed from rubble stone and features a thatched half-hipped roof with a brick ridge stack. It stands one and a half storeys tall. The cottage has two paired casements on the first floor above a triple casement on the ground floor. The roof sweeps down to the right over a two-bay verandah, which includes a door. There is a canted bay on the north end wall and a pair of casements on each floor of the south end. The design is similar to other cottages found at Ratford Hill and Sandy Lane in Calne Without.
