Description

The Grove is a house dating from 1706, with alterations made in the early 19th century and the 20th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with ashlar dressings, and has a hipped roof covered in stone slates. At each end of the ridge is a chimney built of clustered brick. The main facade has two storeys and five windows, featuring 16-pane sashes in flush surrounds, with two dripcourses and a parapet topped with urns at the corners. A matching porch bay, also with a 16-pane sash window above the door and a hood on brackets, was added in the early 20th century in the fourth bay.

A curved, single-story addition extends from the west end of the house. The rear roof slope is steeper, and the rear elevation lacks a parapet. To the left of the main house, two projecting square bays have been added, while to the right the rear elevation contains a two-window range. First-floor windows are mullioned with two lights, while the ground floor has 16-pane sashes. A date plaque reading "IR 1706" is visible. A cottage range is attached to the house at its southeastern corner, with a roof that is half-hipped to the south.
