Description
The Forge, located at No 12, is a house that was formerly a pair of cottages. It likely dates from the early 18th century, with a mid 19th-century extension. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, which is painted on the front, and features a brick stack positioned at the junction between the thatched roof on the left and the Welsh slate roof on the right. The structure has a two-unit plan, including a double-depth mid 19th-century extension to the right. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range. The windows feature timber lintels above mid 20th-century casements and a door to the left, while the right side has 2/2 sash windows set in flush-rendered architraves. There is a mid 20th-century porch to the right. Inside, the original 18th-century roof structure includes collar trusses and tenoned in-line purlins.
