Description

The barn at Bremhill Manor is a late medieval structure built from ironstone rubble. It features a steep roof, with slate covering the south side and tiles on the north. The east end wall has angle buttresses, and there is one buttress on the north wall. The west end has a brick cambered arch that leads to a low entry, with casements above it. Additional lean-to structures are present on the north side.

Inside, the barn has a four-bay triple purlin roof supported by straight wind braces over the second purlin. It includes large trusses with a tie-beam, two collars, and two sets of angle struts. There are opposed cart entries at the east end, while the south entry has been blocked. It is noted that a heavy beamed floor is said to have been removed. Historically, this barn may be associated with a grange of Malmesbury Abbey, which was located near the church at Bremhill.
