Description
55A, The Close is an early 19th-century building located at the north end of the garden of number 55, The Close. It was originally stables and a coachman's house. The building is constructed of red brick with a hipped roof covered in old tiles. The ground floor features two basket-arched doorways and two camber-headed casements, with a central panel between them. Above, the first floor has two similar camber-headed casements, also flanking a central panel. The windows are two-light designs with leaded glazing. The buildings within The Close constitute an outstanding group, demonstrating group value.
