Description

The Volunteer Inn is an inn dating from the early 19th century, constructed of squared rubble stone with a slate roof, featuring coped gables and end stacks. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a three-window range of sashes set in flush ashlar surrounds, along with a central door that has a hood supported by brackets. There are sixteen-pane sashes on either side of the door, and a 12-pane sash in the centre on the first floor. The corners of the building have flush quoins. The north end includes attic and first floor sixteen-pane sashes. It is noted that the inn is said to have existed in 1774 and was sold by John Parsloe to his brother H.H. Parsloe in 1839.
