Description
Nos 83 to 89 on Portway is a mid-19th century building designed in a picturesque style. It stands two storeys tall with an attic, constructed from coursed and squared rubble, featuring brick quoins and wooden lintels. The roof is adorned with fishscale tiles and there are two ridge chimneys, with gable ends that break the roofline and have scalloped bargeboards. The ground floor has four late glazed sash windows, while the gables are enhanced by small four-light wooden oriel windows with glazing bar casements. The center of the building features two two-light casements with hood moulds. No 89 includes a gabled attic window on the north side. There are three bracketed pentice tiled hoods, and Nos 83 and 89 each have three-panel doors with pointed glazing in the upper part. Nos 85 and 87 share a common entrance that leads to a triangular lobby, although No 87 has a modern doorway.
