Description

A pair of houses, originally three, dating from the 18th century, constructed of rubble stone with roofs covered in Bridgwater tiles. The earliest section, on the left-hand side, is one and a half stories tall, featuring a dormer gable and early 18th century recessed cyma-moulded mullion windows with hoodmoulds. These windows have 3 lights on the ground floor and 2 lights above. A five-panel door is situated to the right, set within a chamfered surround with a hood supported by brackets. A one-window range extension from the 20th century has been added to the left, mirroring the dormer gable and featuring 20th century mullion windows.

To the right is a two-story, double-fronted range with a coped gable and a stack to the left. This section has late 18th or early 19th century three-light, flush-chamfered mullion windows, two on each floor, and a 20th century window where a door once stood. This section appears to have been built as an infill between the original left section and the adjacent property, No. 7.

No. 7 is a two-story building with a stack on its original left-end wall and a coped gable to the right. One ridge stack has been removed. The left side of No. 7 features flush quoins and paired early 19th century twelve-pane sash windows on each floor. The right side has later 18th century flush cyma-moulded mullion windows with hoodmoulds, including a 3-light window and two 2-light windows on the first floor, and a 3-light window on the ground floor. A further 20th century extension projects to the right. The building is noted in the book ‘Corsham an illustrated History’ as being part of a group value context.
