Description
Nafford House is an early 19th-century house, extended in 1841, built of red brick with a slate roof. The roof is half-hipped to the north and hipped over the south addition, with two ridge stacks. The main facade has two storeys and a five-window range. Architectural details include an ashlar band, flush quoins, and keystones to the gauged brick window heads. The original building was likely two cottages, forming a four-window range, with a two-window range of 16-pane sashes centrally placed between the doors. The ground floor right-hand door has been replaced by a 12-pane sash, and the first floor left-hand window is a 16-pane fixed light. A matching one-window addition to the right has a 16-pane sash above and a 4-pane sash below. The right end wall is dated H.S.O. 1841, indicating construction for H.S. Olivier, and features two similar 4-pane upper windows and a ground floor trellis verandah.
