Description
The Venn is a detached house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with chamfered stone quoins, set on a stone plinth, and features a tiled roof with gable end brick stacks. The building has two parallel ranges and is two stories high with five windows. The central entrance consists of a 9-panelled door framed by a moulded stone architrave and topped with a pedimented stone hood supported by brackets. On either side of the door are two 12-pane sash windows, also in stone architraves. A moulded string course runs above the lintels. The first floor contains five sash windows in stone architraves and has a moulded stone eaves cornice. The right return of the house is rendered and features a segmental-headed sash window on the ground floor. The rear and interior were not accessible at the time of the survey in May 1986.
