Description
14 Market Place is a Grade II listed building in Chippenham, consisting of two houses on a corner site that have been converted into offices. The structure dates back to the 18th century but was rebuilt in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a hipped pantile roof with a double depth plan.
The exterior has three storeys and a three-window range on both facades. The second floor has 4/8-pane sash windows, the first floor has 8/8-pane sash windows, and the ground floor has 20th-century windows. There is a cornice and blocking course, with platbands between the floors. The north facade includes steps leading up to a central semicircular-arched doorway, which has a roll-moulded arris and a radial fanlight. On the left return, there is a 2-pane semicircular fanlight above double 2-panel doors located at the far left.
The interior has not been inspected. Historically, the house facing north was known as The Antelope Inn in 1784.
