Description
24 The Close is a 18th-century building that stands three stories tall. It is constructed of colourwashed brick, featuring all headers. A stone band runs above the second-floor windows, and there is a tall parapet with stone coping at the top. The roof is hipped and covered with old tiles.
The upper floors have five windows, with the first-floor right-hand window lacking glazing bars, and all windows are recessed. On the ground floor, there is a 19th-century rectangular fanlight with three panes, situated under a moulded flat hood. The east front includes a three-light casement on the second floor, two windows on the first floor, and three windows on the ground floor, all of which are recessed sashes with intact glazing bars.
This building is part of a remarkable group of listed buildings in The Close.
