Description
Watergate House is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the 17th and 19th centuries. It features knapped flint and limestone ashlar chequerwork, with the right side elevation constructed of brick and a tiled roof. The building is two storeys high and has an 'L'-plan layout, consisting of three by two bays extended to the rear by an additional two bays. The south front showcases a central six-panelled door with an overlight and a flat timber canopy supported by brackets. There are plate glass sash windows with ashlar voussoir lintels, prominently featuring the keystone. The first floor has twelve-paned sashes. Running the full length of the front is a cast iron verandah with a shaped felted timber roof. The east elevation has 19th-century timber windows, while the west elevation is made of stone and includes a reset datestone that reads 1618. The roof is hipped and features brick stacks.
