Description
The Talbot Public House is an 18th-century public house located in Calne. It has been extended and altered over the years. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, featuring brick gable stacks and a stone slate roof. It has a single-depth plan with a mid to late 19th-century rear extension. The structure stands two storeys high with an attic and has a three-window range.
The front is double-fronted and includes a mid-19th-century gabled porch with turned balusters on the sides, an open round-arched doorway, a finial, and an ashlar plinth leading to a half-glazed door. The windows are timber lintels over 2- and 3-light 20th-century mullion and transom windows with leaded casements. To the left, there is a single-storey bay made from similar materials, featuring a bracketed flat hood over the doorway and a label mould over a 20th-century window. The interior has been altered but was not inspected.
