Description
Number 13 on Monday Market Street is an 18th-century building that stands two storeys tall, constructed of painted brick and set on a stone plinth. The front is symmetrical, featuring chamfered stone quoins and a moulded modillion cornice. Above, there is a rendered parapet with stone coping. The first floor has three windows, with the centre one being blind, and the remaining sash windows retain their glazing bars and are surrounded by moulded stone architraves. On the ground floor, there is a similar window to the right, while the central door is framed by an architrave surround topped with a cut stone cornice and pediment; the window to the left has been altered. To the right, there is an extension that includes an archway and a rendered first floor with one tripartite window, which also retains its glazing bars in a moulded flush frame. Inside, timber framing and curved brackets can be seen on the ceiling beams along the right-hand wall of the passage, which is part of number 14 on Monday Market Street. It is possible that this extension was originally part of number 14, as both buildings share the same roof. Numbers 6 to 15 on Monday Market Street form a group.
