Description
Highfield is a villa built around the 1850s, likely before 1866. It features a plastered exterior and a slate roof, with stacks that have rendered shafts and cornices. The main block has a deep rectangular plan and a service wing at the rear. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window south front, which includes plate glass sash windows with louvred shutters and ground floor windows that have cornices. The east side has a pilastered porch and an unfortunate 20th-century plate-glass window on the ground floor to the right. The interior has not been inspected but may still have interesting features. The villa was shown as Bella Vista on the first edition of the 1866 Ordnance Survey map.
