Description
Gamekeeper's Cottage is a cottage that may date back to the early 19th century, though it could be as old as the 17th century. It was restored in 1991 and is constructed from plastered stone rubble and cob, with brick chimney shafts. The cottage has a roof that was formerly thatched. It faces northeast and features a two-room plan, with a rear lateral stack in the northwest room and an end stack in the southeast room, which backs onto a full-height agricultural extension. The exterior has two storeys and a two-window front, with the left window set in a projecting bay. The doorway is located immediately to the right of the projection, with a buttress further to the left. There is a large full-height opening at the left end. The rear of the cottage includes three ground-floor windows, two first-floor windows, and two doorways. The interior is not available for inspection. Gamekeeper's Cottage is part of a group of exceptionally attractive buildings in Cockington Park and the nearby unspoilt village.
