Description
Hotel Fiesta is a detached villa, dating from the 1850s, and now used as a hotel. It is situated on the west side of St Marychurch Road, Torquay. The building has a double-depth rectangular plan to the main block, with a service block to the west. The exterior is stuccoed with rusticated quoins and a platband, topped by deep eaves and a hipped slate roof. The symmetrical east front, which faces the road, has three bays. The ground floor has three tall sash windows with moulded architraves; the original glazing was 6 over 9 panes, but the top panes have been altered. The first floor has three 12-pane sashes in moulded architraves with sill blocks and moulded sills. A five-bay tent roof trellis verandah, originally open, is now covered with roof felt and returns for two bays to the left. The south front, used as the entrance, has a projecting porch with a cornice and entablature. It features a round-headed doorway with pilasters and sunk panels. Above the doorway are a pair of shallow projecting stacks with a moulded panel between the shafts, and a window has been inserted between. Two outer first-floor windows and a ground-floor window on the right have moulded architraves with 12-pane sashes. A blind recess is situated on the ground floor to the right. The interior has not been inspected but may retain original features.
