Description
Parkhill and The Close is a villa that dates back to around 1850 and has been divided into two separate residences. It is constructed from local grey limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and topped with a hipped slate roof. The building has a stack with an ashlar shaft and a platband.
The villa has a double-depth, approximately rectangular plan with an angled entrance that faces south-west. Although access was not available during the survey, the exterior is described as having two storeys, deep boxed eaves, and vermiculated rusticated quoins. The principal windows are adorned with ashlar voussoirs and quoins, and the entrance front has a 1:1:2 window arrangement. There is a canted porch on the left side with a moulded cornice at the first-floor level and a plain rectangular doorway below a 12-pane sash window. To the left, there is a tripartite ground-floor sash window, and on the first floor, there are two 12-pane sashes, while the ground-floor windows have been reglazed as plate-glass sashes.
The interior has not been inspected but may still contain features of interest.
