Description

This villa was built around the 1830s, likely as a substantial residence. It is situated on a hillside, with a single-story entrance and principal rooms at the north end, and two stories to the rear (east) and south. The building has a hipped slate roof with deep boxed eaves and rendered stacks with platbands. The west-facing garden elevation has a symmetrical arrangement of four windows, with a prominent verandah to the left. This verandah features piers with incised Greek key decoration and a geometric cast-iron trellis with a tent roof, sheltering French windows with Venetian shutters. To the right of the verandah are two 12-pane sashes. At the right end of the elevation is a two-story canted bay window with four-pane sashes and Venetian shutters. The left return has a single-story entrance with a recessed, two-leaf front door featuring 10 sunk panels, flanked by glazed panels with trellis glazing bars, and an overlight. A 12-pane sash with Venetian shutters is located to the right. The east-facing elevation has a similar arrangement, with first-floor 12-pane sashes and Venetian shutters, ground-floor small-pane casements, and a six-panel door. The interior has not been inspected, but may contain features of architectural interest.
