Description
Mount Braddon is a house, later converted into a hotel, dating from the 1830s. It is constructed of stuccoed walls with a parapeted slate roof and rendered stacks. The house has a double-depth plan. The garden front features two windows and has glazing bars to the tripartite sash windows. A French window is present on the ground floor to the right. A moulded cornice sits beneath the parapet. Sashes are found on the other elevations, and the entrance is located on the right return. The interior has not been inspected, but it is believed to retain original joinery and other original features. The first owner, Mrs Sarah Brydges Williams (died 1863), corresponded with and was frequently visited by Disraeli. Mrs Williams made Disraeli her heir and is buried alongside him and his wife at Hughenden, Buckinghamshire.
