Description

This lamp standard, located immediately west of the courtyard archway at Oldway Mansion, was likely built between 1904 and 1907, during the renovation of Oldway for Paris Singer. It is made of cast-concrete and cast-iron, designed to illuminate the path leading to the entrance of the courtyard. The lamp features a moulded base that is round in shape, with a heavy projecting toothed moulding above it. The cast-iron standard is decorated with fluted details and bead moulding. This lamp standard is included for its group value with Oldway Mansion and other listed items in the grounds, which were developed during the same period.
