Description
The building is a schoolroom located south-west of the Furrough Cross United Reformed Church, constructed in 1853. It is made of local grey limestone rubble and features a slate roof. The structure has stacks with paired, rendered gables and shafts, separated by an arched gap.
The schoolroom is designed in a three-bay plan and stands two storeys tall, with set-back buttresses. The entrance is on the north-west elevation, featuring a shallow central gabled porch that has a three-centred arched doorway with a moulded dripstone and carved terminals, leading to a 20th-century recessed front door. Above the porch, there is a shallow projecting shouldered stack with a single light window. The long sides of the building have tall triple windows with transoms and trefoil-headed lights, while the south-west side is rendered. On the north-east side, the basement level includes a blocked doorway with a segmental-headed brick arch, a doorway to the right of centre, and a window with a similar brick arch.
The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value with the Furrough Cross United Reformed Church on Babbacombe Road.
