Description
April Cottage is a 18th-century thatched building that was once part of a row of houses. It is one and a half storeys tall, constructed from painted rubble with some brick dressings and mostly timber lintels. The cottage features two ridge chimneys, one made of modern stone and the other of brick, which belongs to the adjacent No 24. There are three dormers that have been cut into the thatch. The doors have porches, with the porch of April Cottage also being thatched. The cottage has a three-light mid-19th century segmental headed casement window, as well as a three-light and a two-light casement window, along with a blocked doorway on the ground floor. There are gabled extensions at the rear. April Cottage and the nearby Nos 14 and 16 are positioned at an angle to the street known as The Green, where a late Victorian village pump is located at the junction.
