Description
Nos. 21 to 29 on Bath Road in Swindon is a terrace of five houses built around 1860 to 1880. The houses are constructed of rubble stone, featuring a brick facade with stone dressings and topped with a slate roof. They are three stories tall with an attic and include a side passage, with each house being two rooms deep. The lowest floor is a basement that has a front area. The doors are adorned with heavy pediments supported by consoles, and they feature two-panelled designs with laced fanlights, although some have been replaced. The houses have canted bay windows with cornices and panelled attics, and the windows are fitted with four-paned sashes. The first-floor windows have arched heads beneath cornices, and the eaves are bracketed from a string course. The flush arch-headed casement dormers add to the architectural detail. Inside, some plaster cornices remain, and five round-headed piers can be found at the front end of the area party walls.
