Description
Nos 5 and 6 on Mill Lane are a pair of buildings, likely from the 18th century, that have been altered over time. They are constructed from rubble and consist of one and a half and two storeys. The buildings feature a stone tile roof with gables and brick chimneys. Each has two ranges of two-light casement windows, with the first floor of No 6 having a half dormer and glazing bars. There are central doors with a lean-to structure to the right. The buildings have a 'T'-plan layout at the rear. They are included in the listing for their contribution to the village scene. Mill Lane is believed to have led to the Castle Mill, as the old castle site, from which the village derives its name, may have been located in this area.
