Description
The Red Lion Inn is a good example of an early 18th century house. It is two and a half storeys tall, constructed of red and blue brick with ashlar quoins and a rubble plinth. There is a three-course band above the ground floor. The roof is hipped and covered with stone tiles, featuring two large brick chimneys. The front has three hipped dormers, with one on each hip. There are three windows with glazing bar sashes that have segmental heads. The original doorway has been replaced by a matching window on the left, with a lower door on the right. An extension to the south-west includes a monolithic oval window. To the north-east, there is a small rubble building with a stone tile roof, featuring two wide modern doors and a central small lean-to garage on the left. The inn may have been rebuilt around 1720 when the former Green Dragon became the Red Lion.
