Description
The Malt House is an early 19th-century building located on the south side of The Street in Castle Eaton. This two and a half storey structure is constructed from coursed and dressed rubble, featuring ashlar quotas and dressings. It has a slate roof topped with two brick chimneys. The building includes three gabled dormers, each with two light windows that have metal glazing bars. There are three sash windows with glazing bars on the main facade.
At the front, there are two modern gabled porches; the left porch has nine panel double doors, while the right porch has a six panel door. To the rear, there is an 'L' shaped extension with a stone tile roof that houses very large bread ovens, indicating its former use as a bakery. Additionally, there is stone in the drive to the west, which is said to be the base of a second church cross.
